Eve Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centre has been working hand in hand with some of Malaysia’s mental health frontiers to set up Selangor Mental Health Association (SMHA) a NGO to promote mental health as an integral aspect of society’s overall health and well-being.

The Association was officially launched with a Mental Health Awareness event in Taman Serendah Makmur, Serendah, Selangor with multiple sponsors and volunteer groups from our end alongside SMHA, Klinik Kesihatan Minda Relife dan SP Care Group.

The carnival themed event with multiple booths and goodies sponsored by Top Glove Corporation Berhad, Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd, Yakult Malaysia Sdn Bhd and RVive International to be collected was also co-hosted by Pusat Khidmat Rakyat Penyelaras DUN Batang Kali. Residents from the PPR flats and surrounding houses were our main demographic. They welcomed and participated in the festivities making it a huge success.

The event kicked off with some Zumba to get the energy up followed by an opening speech by the President of the Selangor Mental Health Association, Prof Dato Dr Andrew Mohan Raj. The event was officiated with the ribbon cutting ceremony by YB Tuan Gunarajah A/L George, the Ahli Dewan Negeri (ADN) Selangor. Ahli Majlis Perbandaran Hulu Selangor (Zon 16) En Aylwin Chan Wai Tuck, Dr Sathia Prakash from SP Care group, the Uztaz of Surau Al- Makmur , and the head of the residents of the area were also present showing their support.

Dr Rasyid Bin Sulaiman, medical director of Eve Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centre delivered a very informative and interactive talk ‘Apa itu Sakit Mental’. There were psychological games and psychological tests conducted by Relife Clinic that catered to both the young and old. A team from SP Care group was also there to do basic health screenings.
